 REC IT POST #1

The rules are simple. There are none.

I'll be posting my recommendations of what books I think should get more loving cause y'know, they must be good imo and be read more.

If you have any reccs, please don't hesitate to leave a comment down below. Or if you want my opinions on certain books (I'll see if I read them or can) and so forth.

I got 3 books for you.

The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden

🌜 Book 1 of The Winternight Trilogy

So this book has to be one of my top favorites of all time. The heroine is not your typical blonde bombshell beauty's that revel Aphrodite's aura (not knocking blondes, just the stereotypical ones in books these days) or the dimwitted/clumsy/yet more amazing than she realize - brunettes (again, not knocking brunette...you get the point) that seems to be consistent lately.
I love that it is set in Russian Folklore/Mythology and how lyrical and poetic her writing is. She kept me entranced the entire time.

Warnings: Death, bits of gore (can't quite remember how much) and old aged misogyny as well as talk of religions.

Now, will you guarantee like this? Nope. Not saying that at all. But if you're interested in any of what I mentioned then please, by all means give it a shot at least.

🌜 Book 1 of The Broken Earth Trilogy

Okay, up front, this broke my brain and heart all in one shot (yes, both and I'm a ghost!) The premise is unique and the character storyline is at first a bit confusing - only to find out that was the purpose, all to showcase the genius of unraveling the mystery players together. This is a first book from this author for me but it was enough for me to immediately seize the boxset (which is in my boxset challenge) so that I could devour the rest of the story.

Warnings: there is mentions of sexual abuse, abuse towards a child, murder and misogyny.

This one definitely triggered me though not enough to put the book down. But I definitely need buffer between each book because of how much spiritual soul hurt for the characters. Definitely worth a read.

🌜 Book 1 The Witch's Daughter by Paula Brackston (I believe they're only two books right now)

Warnings: there is mentions of inappropriate sexual relationship with a minor. Child death. This might also talk of religion. It has been a bit so my memory is a little fuzzy on other details.

Like the mentioned above, this one can also hit a little close to the heart with tragedy. But the story itself is so invigorating. Now, this one may not be for everyone and it is a slow burn but it definitively has an interesting pay off.

Okay, those are my 3. Go, read, enjoy. Or don't *shrug*

Please, if you are worried about any triggers or need warning, look the books up. My memory is not perfect, so just be on the safe side and search for it if needed.

Spook y'all later!!!πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»
