ARC REVIEWS A'PLENTY!

👻☕👻☕👻Hey Spooksters! PT1!!! 👻☕👻☕👻

It is I. Here for a wrap up of stories I've read recently. Essentially, all ARCS. And there shall be more...I'm going to be breaking these up a bit to so as not to drown people in so many books at once (gets looks) What? I didn't read that many books...*sighs* Okay, never mind about that argument. Without further ado...do do do...sorry...my brain loves to do random weird things...I may have had too much coffee. Is that possible? Is there such a thing as too much coffee? That's like saying there's too many books in the world. Hah. It's just not possible!!!

☕📚 Cozy Mystery Read! ☕📚

So, this is the second book in the Jane Doe Book Club mystery series. This CAN be read as a standalone which I find appealing because not everyone can read a series and likes standalones. Me, personally, I'll probably be reading more of this series as well as Kate Young's books. Yes, I liked it a lot. I'll link my GR review to make it quick and easy if you’re interested. But definitely found this book well written and happy with it. The first book in the series is called On Borrowed Crime. And while both of these are cozy mysteries, be sure to look for content warnings as these are still dealing with crimes/murders along with other...less tasteful things that can be in crime books.

☕📚 FAIRY TALE RETELLING with a bit
of EROTICA mixed in! Oh my! ☕📚

Obviously, or maybe not, this is a retelling of Cinderella. This is a short story/novella. Very intriguing. Prince Charming is more playboy who hates his position of nobility and no control over his life, Cinderella is sold as a slave (yes, you read this right) by her Step-Evil but is not quite aware of her new role until she is brought to the castle. To be a sex slave for the Prince. And things...happen from there. Yes, steamy. Yes, smexy. You should read it. Also, this author is doing spins on other fairy tales (and duh, I'm going to be digging through those because they need to be. And I am here for it!)

GR link as well provided.

☕📚 A BIT OF HISTORY WITH
A BIG A OF MAGIC PERHAPS? ☕📚

A story set in a time period when those in the fairer sex were treated like no more than property. Men controlled their lives and if necessary, locked them away in a sanatorium for a range of transgressions, including but sadly not only, those of a mental disorder, hysteria (which essentially, if a woman felt and showed it, spoke out to a man, had opinions of her own: hysteria.) This book is both fascinating and appalling at the treatment of women. You get see a glimpse in the lives of those women, the patients, the women working the floors with those patients and that of the unfairness and egotists of doctors more interested in fame and reputation than that of their patient's wellbeing. Definitely a good read.

Okay, that's all for now. Hopefully some time this weekend or early next week I'll have more up for you. But to give you a bit of a taste (or if you go and look at my GR or Bookstagram) you'll know these...

(in no particular order)

IRON WIDOW by  Xiran Jay Zhao
SLEWFOOT by Brom
THE GIRL WHO BELONGED TO THE SEA by Katherine Quinn
LUNA by Rae Else (this one I already posted about but only as a current read so I'm throwing it into the mix.)

There may also be more as I'm still digging through my ARCS for this month. I'll update you as I go. *crosses transparent fingers and frowns* Does that count?

As always, Spook ya'll later, ghost buds!
